JOBS AT FERMILAB
PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR

Name:            Jody
Job Title:        Program Administrator
Department:   ES&H Section Administration
Service:          22 years
Education:      High School
Background:   Born and raised in Wisconsin and moved to Illinois in 1977 when my husband was hired here. I joined the lab in 1987 working in the Research Division Office before moving a year later to work for the Cryogenics Department and the Safety Group. Since then I’ve worked with the Electrical Engineering Department, the U.S. Particle Accelerator School, and the Mechanical Department within the Research/Particle Physics Division. I recently was promoted to Program Administrator in the ES&H Section. As a volunteer on the Auditorium Committee since 2000, I feel I’ve learned a lot about different types of music and have seen performers I never thought I’d see, let alone meet in person!

What are the best reasons to work at Fermilab?
The diversity – I’ve met and worked with people from around the world. And I realized while writing this, that I met almost all of my friends here at the Lab.

What has been your most fun experience at Fermilab?
I had a lot of fun working the open house we had back in 1997 – opening our doors and showing our neighbors around. I also enjoy helping the Conference Office and especially enjoyed shuffling people back and forth from the tent to the Hi-Rise in the Fermilab golf cart during the 2003 Lepton Photon Conference!

What do you like best about your job?
The people! I deal with many different people and personalities which make my job so interesting.

What do you see as the greatest opportunity at Fermilab?
I’m very lucky in that all of the supervisors I’ve had over the years have allowed me to work on projects that I am interested in.

What is the most important thing that keeps you working at Fermilab?
I love my job! I’ve worked here 22 years and can’t believe it’s been that long (it doesn’t seem that long ago when I was one of the “new kids”).

Anything else to add?
I still feel a huge amount of pride when I drive to work in the morning and realize that I get to work here – at Fermilab – a premier Physics Laboratory known worldwide. I’m happy to be where I am today and I’ll be here as long as I can!
