Getting Around Fermilab

Site Map

Fermilab is a large organization located on a 6,800-acre site. Your job could require you to go to other buildings on site, and learning how to get from place to place may seem a bit daunting at first. Fermilab has created an interactive map to help employees and visitors find their way around the site. Click on any area of the map for a closer view.

Entering the Site

Fermilab has three entrance gates—Wilson Street, Pine Street and Batavia Road. On your first day of employment, you need to enter the site at the Pine Street entrance and get a visitor's pass from Security.

You will receive your Fermilab ID card on your first day of employment. After you have a Fermilab ID card, you may enter the site at any entrance gate after you present your ID to the security guard.

You must wear your ID at all times when you are on the Fermilab site.

Parking

Parking is available on the East and West side of Wilson Hall and at the Lederman Science Center. Most of the parking in these areas is open to all employees and their visitors. However, employees and their visitors must obey all posted signs and must avoid parking in areas that require special permits. Handicapped parking is available on both sides of Wilson Hall. Bicycle and motorcycle parking is available on the East side of the building.

All other buildings at the laboratory also have parking lots.

Maps of Wilson Hall

Wilson Hall Ground Floor--The ground floor is home to Medical, Key and ID, Visual Media Services, the Argonne Credit Union, Ramsey Auditorium and much more.

Wilson Hall Atrium--The Atrium, located on the first floor, houses Fermilab's cafeteria, vending machines, the Travel Office, the Office of Public Affairs and several conference rooms.

Taxi Service
