Users’ Executive Committee
The Fermilab Users’ Organization is an organization of scientists and engineers currently engaged in advancing our understanding of the nature of matter and energy.
Graduate Students' Association
The GSA is an organization of graduate students working at Fermilab. Representatives from the graduate student community, are elected every year in October. The GSA Mission includes liaising between the FNAL Directorate, Experiments managers, Computing Division, the User's Executive Committee, and graduate students, disseminating information on employment opportunities, and encouraging interaction among graduate students from different experiments. The GSA also manages and maintains the fnalgrad email list whereby students can communicate with the rest of the graduate student community at the lab. The GSA published a Guide to Life that contains useful information about settling into and enjoyng life in and around Fermilab.
Rental Cars
Pilot’s Leasing provides rental cars to Fermilab Users’ for short or long term rental. To reserve a car, please visit the Pilot’s Leasing desk in the Users’ Office during regular business hours or call their representative, Enrique Lopez, at 630-840-4037. Alternatively, you may call, fax or email the Users’ Office and we will forward your request to Pilot’s Leasing.

On-Site Cab Service
An on-site cab service can take employees and visitors to buildings and facilities on Fermilab property. Hours of operation are from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Call x4225 (hack).

On-site Accommodations
Fermilab’s Housing Office can assist with on-site accommodations located in the Fermilab Village.
Off-site Accommodations
In addition to the on-site Fermilab Housing, there are a number of local hotels near Fermilab. Reservations should be made directly with the hotel of your choice. Alternatively, Fermilab Housing produces a list of potential Off-Site Short-Term Housing resorces.
Chez Leon
The Chez Leon restaurant located in the Users’ Center Building is open for lunch on Wednesday and dinner on alternate Thursdays. For information about Chez Leon contact the Accommodations Office or call Connie Barnes at (630) 840-3524.
Users' Center
The Users' Center is a place for people to socialize after work. It is located in the Fermilab Village and has a bar, lounge area with a fireplace, a game room with pool and ping pong tables, a room with a TV and VCR and a piano room. For information about the Users’ Center, contact Jack Hawkins at 630-840-3082.
The Visa Office
The Visa Office is located next to the Users’ Office in Wilson Hall, 1 W. We provide limited assistance to Users’ and visitors relating to visa applications or admission. We also have printed material outside our office, which provides guidance on common questions such as applying to extend B-1 status, or correcting I-94 Cards.
Social Security Administration
Many Users’ will need to apply for a social security number. Information, application and a map to the Social Security Administration Office are available at the Users’ Office. The Application for a Social Security Card (SS-5) can be found here and local office information is here or you can go online to the Social Security Administration’s website at www.ssa.gov.
Illinois Secretary of State (Driver's License)
If you need to apply for an Illinois Driver's License, you can get a copy of the Rules of the Road and a map to the local facility from the Users’ Office or from the Illinois Secretary of State.
Non-U.S. citizens who are lawfully present in the U.S. but ineligible for a Social Security Number (which includes the spouses and children of H-1B or J-1 status holders, as examples) may receive Temporary Driver’s Licenses.
